Job description

Join us as a Radiology Physician at the Lexington VA Medical Center located in Lexington, KY.

Duties include:
• Perform weekly examination of patients under radiation therapy by attending physician.
• Prior to beginning radiation treatment, instruct patients and care givers on the risks involved including symptom management and symptoms requiring immediate intervention.
• Evaluate each patient for treatment management at a minimum of once per five treatments.
• Treatment management evaluations, addressing tumor response and side effects of therapy and medications prescribed, include pertinent laboratory and imaging studies.
• Provide patients with written guidelines regarding their rights and responsibilities.
• Monitor all therapy for side effects or complications; prescribe dose changes as needed; and review all cases at physician conference.
Schedule: Full-time, 8A-4:30P M-F. Call not required. Off weekends and all federal holidays.
Period of Performance: 12 months, April 1st 2025-March 31st 2026.

Qualifications:
• Education. Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
• Board Certification. All contractor’s physician(s) shall be Board Certified per the American Board of Radiology (Sign up or sign in for contact information).
• Licensure and certification. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. BLS and ACLS required.
• Experience. Must be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the government’s job requirements.
• English Language Proficiency: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
• Subject to background/security investigation.
• Must pass TB test.
• Complete an online onboarding process.
• Willingness to comply with Department of Veterans Affairs vaccination programs for seasonal influenza and COVID-19.
• Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
